Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy S26 family (most likely in January) running One UI 8.5. A few days ago we got our first look at the design changes coming in this upcoming release, and today courtesy of a teardown of a One UI 8.5 build there's additional news about a new feature that will be built in.
We're talking about the ability to double tap the back of the phone to perform an action. This has been available in some other Android skins for quite a while now, and in fact you can even get it in One UI, but only using the Good Lock app, the functionality isn't built right into the skin itself.

And that's exactly what will change when One UI 8.5 launches. When you get it, you'll be able to pick between seven things the gesture can trigger: AI Select, Flashlight, Notifications, Open app, Privacy display, Quick settings, and Screenshot.
That's the list for now but of course Samsung could add items to it at any point between now and the release of One UI 8.5 (or take some out).
